Wildlife
There is wonderful scenery and fantastic wildlife to be found in Carlisle's parks and open spaces around the city. Explore beyond the city limits and you will find breathtaking natural beauty in acres of unspoilt countryside.
Carlisle City Council manages a number of nature reserves and wildlife sites throughout the city where many different species of wildlife can be found and enjoyed. Hammonds Pond, Kingmoor Nature Reserve and Bitts Park are all easily accessible from the city centre and provide a haven for quiet recreation and the chance to spot otters, herons and kingfishers and other urban wildlife.
