Cycling
Carlisle lies at the hub of a number of national, regional and local cycle routes, with plenty of choice on two wheels.
National Route 7 goes from Sunderland to Inverness via Carlisle, Hadrian's Cycleway (National Route 72) passes through Bitts Park to the north of the city and there are plenty of gentle rides around the rolling countryside of the Solway coast or Eden Valley.
Three new circular trails around Carlisle have been devised for all cycling abilities. And, if you're still looking for a challenge, the Reivers Cycle Route will take you over 150 miles of amazing Border countryside and through the very heart of Carlisle.
